How a Micro Hydro Power Plant Works on a Canal

This video shows a 15 kW microhydro power project (i.e. units less than 100 kW) located in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The plant is currently shutdown for maintenance.
The project is built on a canal Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization and serves as a pilot project for over 500 other mini/micro and small hydropower projects on canals and streams that will be funded by donor agencies throughout the region.
These projects were started under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of construction of 350 dams in the region.
The project will be run by community and will provide cheap electricity to inhabitants in addition to creation of jobs in the region.
