The construction of the 145-MW Palmas Altas Wind Farm is progressing in Cameron County, Texas (USA). The work ties in with ACCIONA’s commitment to the local area through a series of projects such as improving roads or collecting foodstuffs for community organizations. These initiatives are part of the company’s Social Impact Management Plan and they represent an investment of 0.3% of the Balance of Plant (BOP) during the construction period of the associated project, and 0.2% of gross sales generated by the plant for at least the first 10 years of its operation.
The Palmas Altas Wind Farm is ACCIONA’s ninth in the United States. It will supply renewable energy equivalent to the consumption of 43,000 Texan households and will avoid the emission of 503,000 tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere every year.
